FpML gains further momentum as Infinity signs on to technical committee and plans product integration Enterprise software leader to work toward convergence with Network Trade Model J.P. Morgan & Co. Incorporated announced today that Infinity, A SunGard Company, joined the technical committee of FpML (financial products markup language). Infinity, a leading provider of enterprise software for financial trading, risk management, and operations, has committed to working on the committee and supporting the use of FpML and the convergence of FpML and Infinitys Network Trade Model. The FpML standard, announced last month by J.P. Morgan and PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be licensed freely to the technical and financial markets and enables Internet-based electronic dealing and information sharing of financial derivatives, initially focusing on interest rate and foreign exchange products. Based on XML, the emerging Internet standard for data-sharing between applications, the FpML protocol enables Internet-based integration of a range of services, from electronic trading and confirmations to portfolio specification for risk analysis. Brian Robins, senior vice president of marketing at Infinity, commented: "Infinity is pleased to work as part of the FpML initiative to ensure that standard message formats are developed for information exchange of derivatives trades, trade details, and lifecycle events. Our experience in bringing to market a fully documented XML-based Network Trade Model will prove an invaluable component to FpML. There is a great deal of overlap between FpML and the Network Trade Model, and we are committed to work toward convergence over time." Philippe Khuong-Huu, head of credit and interest rate derivatives trading at J.P. Morgan, added: "Adoption of a single, open standard will create efficiencies in the derivatives markets. We are pleased to have the expertise and market influence of Infinity, a major capital markets technology vendor with a large installed base, behind the FpML standard."
