FpML-VAL discussion today

We didn’t have a quorum to be able to have a meeting. However, Mark Addison, Lyteck, Irina, Daniel Dui, and I had a discussion around the Validation Principles. I gave an update on feedback from the Standards Committee offsite that took place last week in New York. There were two main comments from the Standards Committee members:

  • Keep an English description of the rules in order to facilitate understandability for business users
  • Clarify the use of IF…THEN… statements

Mark said that it’d probably be a good idea to pull out some examples from the current rules to be able to see the usage of IF…THEN… statements.

Lyteck has done some progress using the new format and he has resolved quite some issues using it. Marc will double check the implementation. There was some discussion whether we should provide the XPath2 _expression_ as additional information of the rule. Daniel said that it should be clear which one is the “official” representation. Otherwise there may be overhead and inconsistency between them. Marc said that the Standards Committee stated that they should be kept in English. More work to be done on whether we could provide the XPath2 as additional information but keeping English as official description.

Best Regards,

-Marc
