This is probably an oversight. All of them should be abstract types. I propose to make them abstract in the 4.1 Rec release and in the 4.2 WD. -Marc ------------------ From: matthew.d.rawlings@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:matthew.d.rawlings@jpmchase. com] Sent: Saturday, April 16, 2005 2:58 PM To: mwg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: fpml-bpm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: FpML-MWG40 ResponseMessage and NotificationMessage The RequestMessage is an abstract type in FpML 4.1 TR, ReponseMessage and NotificationMessage are not. Should ResponseMessage and NotificationMessage be abstract? To my knowledge they are used for inheritance, but never directly. It was the same way in FpML 4.0. Can anyone remember if this was deliberate or oversight? Matthew Rawlings Prime Brokerage Strategy & Architecture +44 791 539 7824
