FpML-BP RE: AWG Teleconference today June 10 at 9am NYC/2pm LON - spreadsheet with message names
Marc -
I have a conflict and can't make the meeting today. However, I would like a chance to argue in favor of the current naming convention. I see a useful pattern in creating a category of request messages such that requests maybe easily identified as initiators of specific business processes. If we are to change these as proposed the goal apparently would be to segregate each request with its respective business process and create a set of messages dedicated to a particular process. This has merit to it and is a reasonable suggestion but I am not sure it warrants overturning the current convention.
I am not in favor of further renaming of messages per the IY Proposal. I don't see this as providing significant value nor do the proposed names always accurately portray the use of the message. A "notification" is generally used as part of a dynamic business process. In the case of a position report or reset report, reporting may be done in a static, end of day manner such that it is precisely a report rather than a notification.
I apologize for having to make these arguments awkwardly via email but I hope they can be considered in making the final decision.
Regards,
Matt
